Cooking with intention is one of my favorite ways to do magic. It is also the easiest in my opinion. Very much so a kitchen witch. I embrace that title and that spirit.
One of my favorite things to do is add bay leaves to the pot. I believe that whoever gets it has something great coming their way. It acts as a little confirmation when you see it in your bowl.
Me, personally I mix my herbal knowledge with my witch knowledge. This just helps to make sure the food tastes great and has the correct intentions. This is especially helpful when making soups and when someone is sick. Rosemary for anything stomach related goes in the pot every time. Its not even a question about it anymore at this point.
If you’re highly intuitive, a great cook, and have at least a basic level knowledge of herbs. This might not teach you very much. I tend to be an intuitive cook. Sometimes I will feel myself reaching for certain things and once I think about what it is for. It clicks for me like duh yes girl you definitely needed this.
Hot Cocoa
Since it is cold, having a nice hot drink might be just the thing you need some days. I love coming home from work. I heat up a cup of tea or cocoa after being out in that cold. Same with the summer. First thing I do is pour myself a nice cold drink over ice.
I am not fancy. I am a single mom with a full-time job. I’m also trying to become a full-time entrepreneur. Meaning my time is already spread thin. We aren’t making Hot Cocoa from scratch. (every now and then I like to make Hot Cocoa Bombs so we can just plot them in).
Grab your favorite hot cocoa and just make it as normal with the cocoa powder and the milk. That’s going to be our base. Cocoa is often linked with a heart opening feeling. Not love but kinda like serenity. Milk is often used to bring in soothing properties. Keep in mind what kind of things you’re buying. The quality can make a difference in our bodies and spirits, even if it doesn’t on a taste level.
If you have never tried adding different things to your hot cocoa and have only drank it plain. Let me ruin you. Here are some AMAZING flavor boosters in your hot cocoa. Mix and match the flavors based on what sounds good. Create a recipe off of intention. I mean there really is not right or wrong here. The only way it is wrong is if you don’t like the way it tastes I guess.
Hot cocoa ingredients
Chocolate Chips: inner balance, soothing, mental clarity, and meditation
Maple Syrup: abundance, balance, warmth, wisdom, inner freedom, connections, and divination
Peppermint: inner calm, clarity, divination, energy, luck, release, and warmth
Caramel: To sweeten things or even yourself
Cinnamon: attract, success, wealth, harmony, divination, inner balance, and clairvoyance
Cayenne: passion, protection, and love
Coffee: meditate, clear blockages, creativity, release negative energy, and speeds intentions
Vanilla Extract: emotional balance, calm, comfort, peace, sex, and concentration
Baileys: spirits or alcohol of any kind I have notice makes it easier to connect to the other side
My personal favorite is to add chocolate chips at the bottom. (I like that extra chocolaty taste). Then hot milk, I add while mixing in cocoa powder. I top with whipped cream. I also add caramel drizzle and sprinkles. They are Christmas colored, of course. Whatever my theme for the year is, that’s the color sprinkles I have. I stick a roller wafer in the side when I am feeling fancy. Makes me feel a little extra cozy.
Dinner
Many of us live in a world where cooking skills are lacking. Some of us are too busy to cook every day. Or it’s just one person who lives in the house and cooking a whole meal often seems excessive. If you want to cook from scratch there are recipes out there.
I often only do this when I am sick already. Speaking for myself, I am not making a whole meal from scratch while I am sick. Especially if I am feverish. I will just tell y’all how to elevate canned chicken noodle soup while still cooking with the intention of healing.
The ingredients will sound like a lot but it really isn’t. I take about 2-3 cans of soup. (I am normally cooking for me and a kid). And I add everything in the pot besides the bread and the chicken. The chicken goes in the oven to warm back up. I have heard a few were under cooked. Take no chances. By the time they are both done you can just shred the chicken and add it in. If I am doing a bread bowl I add my soup to that at the end. Simple easy peasy.
Stuff needed
Grocery store rotisserie chicken (it’s already prepared and I never feel like there’s enough chicken)
Chicken broth or bullion (to add in more flavor)
Whole Bread Loaves (I like to turn mine into bowls towards the end when I am starting to feel better).
Celery
Chopped or minced
Carrots
Chopped or minced
Thyme: calm, bless, energy, healing, purification, strength and well being.
Rosemary: comfort, well being, and determination
Kitchen Sage: energy, strength, stimulation, healing, comfort, and balance
Black Pepper: endurance, alert mind, and strength
Lemon Juice: comfort, protection, renewal, and healing
Common Cooking Seasonings
Here are a few seasonings I feel like regardless of your cooking skills you should have in your pantry. I feel like these are basic seasonings. I can’t think of anything I could cook where I wouldn’t need at least one of these herbs. Minus the ones that can be found above.
Allspice: business, prosperity, willpower, determination, and attraction
Basil: attraction, harmony, prosperity, success, courage, and discipline
Bay leaves: blessings, luck, wisdom, peace, opportunities, loyalty, and intuition
Black Cohosh: life, protection, courage, well-being, money
Cloves: release, emotions, divination, money, happiness, prosperity, and courage
Cumin: harmony, protection, purification, release, and longevity
Dandelion: clarity, guidance, prophecy, purification, communication, and money
Garlic: anxiety, communication, well being, security, improvement, and courage
Nutmeg: clairvoyance, justice, wealth, life, and divination
Star Anise: banish, energy, purification
