Introducing your Author….

Lavender Rose is my name. I am almost 30 years old and I am still finding my way in the world. As I feel most of us are. I wanted to create a platform. This platform is where others could come to seek knowledge, understanding, and community. I live in what is considered to be the Bible Belt. Everyone assumes you’re Christian and it can feel like a big deal when you’re not. Even to the ones who aren’t living Godly anyway. I understand what it’s like to not have the community, to practice alone and to figure it out by yourself. Sometimes I do think about moving somewhere to be around others in my practice. Other times, I think there’s a reason as to why I am here.

Here’s a little bit of information that I think you should know about me. My favorite color is purple and I believe that everything happens in 3’s, so 3 is my favorite number. I don’t believe in karma and I know aliens are real. I am in love with love and often repeat life lessons. I plan my life around the moon and numerology.

I believe in healing my body with teas. I do things I am smart enough to know better then. But I am impulsive enough to still go through with it.

My Gifts

On a more spiritual note, I have the wonderful gift of prophetic dreams or oneiromancy. I talk to my spirits in them and they show me the way. They sometimes give me messages to relay or show me things to avoid. I also can hear spirits (which is called clairaudience). However it’s easiest to hear them when I do tarot reading and I have opened that portal. Which also helps my mediumship skills in misas. I absolutely love interacting with the spirits and I hope they like interacting with me. 

My Path in Childhood

Now I have not always been on this witchcraft path. This hasn’t always been my path. Around the age of 9, I experienced my first spiritual awakening. I also discovered my love for reading. I read any and every book on witches you can imagine, mainly fiction stories however it made me feel normal.

Around the age of 10 I was able to find out about Wicca. This was not a pleasant moment when my mother found out I promise you. I found a protection symbol to protect me as I slept. At that time I was suffering from nightmares at the time and wanted them to go away. I now know those nightmares were prophetic dreams that I just didn’t want to happen. My family started going to church for a while, til we didn’t. I think long enough for me to go back to being Christian.

I had my second awakening around the age of 14, this time I was more so on a pagan path. Back then I had made a friend who felt called to witchcraft too. We would do spells together, I feel like spells were easier back then. I still have no clue to this day if we actually made it rain that day. It might have been lucky timing. We had an amazing experience together.

It was at this time that I bought my first tarot deck from Dollar Tree of all places. I don’t think they sell them anymore because of kids like me. My mother was furious that I would even bring them in the house. I wish I could tell my younger self to bury them under the tree by the fence.

My Path in Adulthood

My third almost awakening happened around 19. This time not even lead by me. My daughter was having nightmares and spiritual attacks. I just recently had my roommate leave. I don’t fully understand what happened that night. While lying in my bed my spirit was in my daughters room. I watched as the man she had been describing to me hovered over her screaming and her crying back. My body was stiff and I was unable to move. When i finally could she was in my room and I called my mother.

We moved out a week later. My former roommate left some magic items in my daughter’s room. Knowing what I know now, I think they were hexes. I knew enough to know I wanted no parts and went back to church. I got baptized and became the good Christian girl my family always wanted.

What lead to my current level of ashe?

My real third and final awakening happened at the age of 23, this one changed my life forever. This time it wasn’t me chasing something, I was being led by my ancestors. Blessing and love to my ancestors. I was living with my mother at this time. On night I had a dream that frightened and empowered me, something was off. I could tell I needed to know something. I spent my last $50 getting a tarot reading off Etsy, I still to this day thank my reader. She told me that my dream was telling me it’s time to walk the path and so I did.

So I don’t disrespect my mothers home. As I did when I was 14, I worked hard to move out. I was led to the path of Hoodoo. I worked hard with my ancestors. Finally, I did get scratched in Palo. Fast forward I am now a Yaya in the tradition meaning I am a priestess. I work with both Palo and my Hoodoo spirits in my practice. My journey doesn’t stop here though. I am preparing for the path of Ifa. I will get my hand in a couple of months. 

Where am I headed?

Now that I have shown yall my background, you have an understanding of where I have been. Now, I can explain where I am going. Besides creating this blog for spreading information and understanding, I have another dream. I want to start a school for children in ATR’s. This would be similar to how Catholics have their own school. I believe providing a safe space for our children is important. They need to know and understand their community better. This knowledge would benefit the future of our traditions. It might not happen in this lifetime. However, I put it out there in the universe anyway. I hope to at least have a chance. 

I want you to know. As of right now, you can expect a post to come out every Tuesday morning. If I have any questions emailed to me I will post my response in the advice column every Saturday night. Questions are anonymous so please feel free to ask anything you have questions or doubts on. I will answer to the best of my abilities. If it is out of my scope of knowledge, I will ask one of my elders or teachers. I aim to get the best information possible for you.
